Business Cougars
Like a Decepticon bulldozer fusing itself to a sun-eviscerating robot colossus with wrecking-ball nuts, Nikki Finke has joined the MMC family. (This metaphor makes more sense if you’ve seen Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Rest assured, it’s highly complimentary.)
To celebrate today’s exciting announcement, we sent over the finest Edible Arrangement $7.99-or-less could buy, and received this gracious thank-you e-mail in return:
“I received the equivalent of the GNP of a small country.
I’m now working for a 30-year-old.
I’m a business cougar.
And what the hell is Movieline?”
Oh, Nikki — you irrepressible mountain lioness, you. Quit licking those paws and come on over here and give us a big puma hug.
UPDATE: To appease concerned readers, let me just make it clear that we’ll both be playing in adjoining, but completely independent, sandboxes — though we may occasionally share shovels.

Well check YOU guys out.

I bet she gets a good parking space for her broom.

Nicki, as long as you can pants Michael Bay by the end of the week, you're alright in my book.

Hey, look who just hired a fact-checker.

Somehow I doubt it. Hey, I read Nikki every (other) (other) day, but if she ever hired a fact checker DHD would be one big web page of blank.

Better watch what you say about Nikki. Wasn't there some unpleasantness years ago when someone at Gawker Media referred to her as "crazy but in a good way" or something? Am I remembering this right, or just hallucinating (it's so hard to tell once summer begins...)

I looked it up. She has said less than pleasant things about a couple of the guys here. But that was another life ago...

"SOLDJA" is an awesome headline. Seth, that had to be all you.

So, you guys are "reporting" this? SWEET, moving up in the world!

Defamer and DHD under the same roof? Who ever knew this day would come...

Man, those staff meetings are going to be awk! Ward!
(Of course, Nikki will probably be taking them via videophone from her four-poster bed, surrounded by six aging Corgis, a stack of French toast, and the rest of that bottle of Gordon's.)

Does her last name rhyme with her first name or is it pronounced more like Rat Fink? The only picture of her on Google's image search resembles Kathleen Turner, not a compliment.
