Avatar Day
So you’ve marked off Aug. 21 on your calendars, told your boss you’ll be taking your cat in for a kidney transplant that day, and taken every other precaution necessary to ensure that the first annual Worldwide Avatar Day will be a day to remember. Now, all that’s left is to figure out how to get into one of the hundreds of Imax theaters showing 15 minutes of James Cameron’s new movie, preceded by a short filmed intro from the director instructing you to “enjoy having your brains collapse beneath my Almighty-like grasp on the next generation of f**k-yeah filmmaking. Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds. Roll it!”
There will be two showings, one at 6 p.m. and one at 6:30, and tickets will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis on the Avatar website (www.avatarmovie.com) at noon PST Monday. Greg Foster, president of Imax Filmed Entertainment said of the sneak preview: “I think that there’s not enough of an understanding of what show business means. You can’t have business without showmanship. What Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment and Imax are doing is the personification of the correlation between those two words — ‘show’ and ‘business.’” I hope that means there’s a Les Na’vi Bergeres Las Vegas-style floorshow following the screenings. That would be awesome!

Looks like I'll be sending my avatar to see this. The real me has a date that night. Oh wait, on second thought...
