The gang at Marvel HQ might not have thought they’d ever have a better Monday than the one last year after Iron Man opened to $100 million. Today is at least 40 times better, with reports this morning announcing Disney has bought the comics monolith for $4 billion.
In turn, Disney would acquire more than 5,000 Marvel characters and properties including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, the X-Men, Captain America and others. It would also inherit Marvel’s long-term deal with Paramount (which received an extension last fall) as well as more a la carte relationships with Universal, Sony and Fox. The dynamics of each situation will sound out in the months ahead, as will I presume the burgeoning Marvel theme-park industry. Wow, Marvel, Tron 2, the Miyazaki films - is Disney getting hip or what? I can't wait to hear the news that they've acquired the rights to David Gordon Green's next three stoner films.

Now, if only they can get rid of those stupid shows - Hannah Montana, Zeke and Luthor, Suite Life, Cory in the House. None of those shows are educational nor entertaining!!!

There's something very disturbing about the way Mickey is hanging on to Spidey from behind ... I'm having flashbacks of the cover of The Little Mermaid and the controversy that ensued.
