NBC to Pollute Programming with Campaign-Convenient Truths

kennethpage225.jpg Because stern confessionals from Anthony Edwards and a sky-soaring “The More You Know” graphic are not in vogue anymore, NBC will try a new strategy with its upcoming pro-environmental service announcements. Instead of just airing as commercials, NBC’s environmental campaign will overhaul new episodes of 30 Rock, The Office, The Biggest Loser, Heroes, and Community. Jack Donaghy, Michael Scott, and Jillian Michaels will acknowledge their carbon footprint, and then shout at it like the do-nothing underling it is. Preview of the proceedings after the jump.

According to AP:

This year on 30 Rock, corporate boss Jack Donaghy tells the late-night show’s staff it has to cut its carbon footprint by 5 percent, and puts Kenneth the Page in charge of getting it done.

In the comedy Community, the college is renamed “Environdale.” College students think they’re hiring the band Green Day for a gig, and instead gets the Celtic combo Greene Daeye. Dwight in The Office takes the role of “Recyclops” in that comedy. Heroes features cast members filling a truck with recyclables and talking about the importance of giving back to the earth.

Trainers on The Biggest Loser will instruct their clients to buy organic produce and bring their own mugs to the coffee shop.

I assume NBC is remaining mum on The Biggest Loser’s storyline, as trainer Bob Harper will inevitably slap the mugs out of the contestants’ hands and cackle that coffee is for fat people. Furthermore, did I miss a mention of Greenzo in the above descriptions? I personally learned a lot from him — like that Meredith Vieira’s b.s. is not efficient for the earth.
