The Two-Minute Verdict
We’ll make this fast: the trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has hit YouTube in what’s almost certainly a leak, given the lack of fanfare and terrible quality. So if you want to go see it, check it out now! No magic dagger can grant you the opportunity to reverse time should you not be fleet of foot enough. (UDPATE: It’s now online for real — check it out after the jump.)
Meanwhile, how is it?
Well, there is a lot of exposition, and a lot of revolving camerawork. Do you want to know what Jake Gyllenhaal looks like from every angle? (To study his prosthetic abs, natch.) Well, you’ll have quite the opportunity to, as Persia seems determined to circle around the actor countless times. You can tell it’s adapted from a video game — specifically, the part at the beginning where you’re learning how to orient the camera.
VERDICT: Pass the Persian dramamine.

Bold move, basing a movie specifically on a video game's instruction booklet.

I'm not gonna lie, that British accent makes Jake sound like a top.

Very soon, youtube will use its evil magical dagger to rewind time back to before that trailer was leaked onto youtube.

Gemma Arterton sounds like a nagging Rachel Weisz. I glad she stopped talking halfway through the trailer.
