A Look at the Matthew Bomer Superman That Might Have Been

bomer_superman.jpgBefore his USA drama White Collar became a big hit this past season, Matthew Bomer was a former soap actor with a couple of TV credits and one very big brush with fame: He’d been cast as Superman when Brett Ratner was attached to direct the project in 2003, but when Ratner fell out and Bryan Singer stepped in, Bomer was nixed. At least this Japanese Prius commercial (dug up by the folks at ONTD) lets Bomer finally don the tights and take to the air to a soaring, insanely expensive John Williams score. Enjoy, and ponder what would have been:

According to imdb...Brandon Routh is 6'3 1/2, Matthew Bomer is 5'11.

Using Hollywood height adjustment tables that means 6'4 and 5'10.

While I like Bomer more, would an under 6'0 Man of Steel have worked?

@HWOODHILLS: I believe 5'11" usually translates as 5'8". Or as a masseur once told me, "Escort Ads are like IMDB: add 5 years and subtract 3 inches."

Those 30 seconds were more enjoyable than Superman Returns. Bomer FTW.
