Does Robert Rodriguez Have Deadpool In His Sights?

Bookmark and Share

deadpool_225.jpgNow that Robert Rodriguez has hung up his taco-scented apron and is ready to cut a Machete-sized swath through the world, what’s next on his docket? It may be Marvel Comics’ favorite motormouthed mercenary anti-hero, Deadpool.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that after he finishes up his next film, Spy Kids 4, Rodriguez may sign on to the long-simmering Deadpool movie. Rodriguez and Fox have been perfecting the slow art of seduction, both surreptitiously meeting with each other but denying that anything serious had taken place. But now it’s reported that they’ve moved on to second base and are firming up deal points and the like.

Also no word as to who might star in the film (other than Danny Trejo, obvs). Technically Ryan Reynolds played him in the misbegotten Wolverine movie, but by the end of it, he bore little relation to the Wade Wilson we’ve come to know and love. If Reynolds is too busy in Sector 2814, then I honestly think Seann William Scott could be a great replacement — he’s got the physique and Lord knows he’s certainly got the mouth. Any suggestions as to who you think could play the (new) definitive Deadpool?

Tom Berenger.

Edward Norton!

Jayden Smith!

Obviously Taylor Lautner

Betty White.

Turdblossom, you certainly earned your name with that one.

Ryan Reynolds will still play Deadpool. He's wanted to play him since 2002. He wouldn't wait 8 years to play the character, finally get the chance, then turn it down.

Green Lantern is his big money making event movie. Deadpool will be his more modest, cult movie that is his passion project.

Ryan Reynolds isn't very interesting. He wasn't very good as Deadpool, and probably won't be very good as Green Lantern.

Anton Corbijn’s The American looks and feels like a movie made by a filmmaker who hasn’t been to the movies since the ’70s — and I mean that as the highest compliment.
