TCA: CBS to Fix Gay Problem with Softball Player on Rules of Engagement

Rules_080212095035876_wideweb__300x375,1.jpgToday, Movieline’s running coverage of the Television Critics Association panels in Beverly Hills begins with CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler’s announcement about LGBT representation in the network’s programming — namely, there isn’t much of it. Still, Tassler says she hopes to combat another failing grade from GLAAD with (what else?) more LGBT stereotypes.

According to Tassler, CBS will add and even bring back a couple of gay characters:

“We had a couple of pieces in development [featuring LGBT characters] that we unfortunately didn’t pick up. We’re adding a few characters this season because we’re very disappointed in our track record so far. We know and we will do better. You’re going to meet Alicia’s brother in The Good Wife, a gay character. We’re also going to be adding a new character to Rules of Engagement. Jeff and Audrey’s surrogate will be a member of Jeff’s softball team, and she is a lesbian. We’re also going to have a recurring character in S*** My Dad Says.”

Maybe there’s even room on The Defenders for an interior designer who carries a pink glock.

Wasn't ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE cancelled??

They already photoshopped the Indian guy onto the Rules bed in the opening credits--how the hell are they going to squeeze in a lesbian?

How about a better script?

LGBT is so yesterday! "Big Brother" proves CBS has moved beyond that and they are leading charge for incest-rights to be portrayed in prime-time.

Spermbians? Again? Really, CBS? After the pounding you took for Guiding Light? After seeing the incandescent rage of lesbians everywhere who are furious about the constant, unrelenting pregnancy and sleep-with-a-man stories? I'D RATHER BE INVISIBLE, THANKS MUCH! Get your junk out of my eyesocket.

Anton Corbijn’s The American looks and feels like a movie made by a filmmaker who hasn’t been to the movies since the ’70s — and I mean that as the highest compliment.
