Fan With Photoshop Kills Jon Hamm's Chances For Superman

The Superman casting-rumor mill is whirring a little louder than usual this week since the disclosure that director Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. are considering a leading man closer to middle-age than to fresh-faced youth -- which automatically got every one back on the Jon Hamm casting tip. One fan even went so far as to mock up a likeness of the DC title hero as he might look if played by Hamm -- on Halloween, in the Sears Portrait Studio.

I don't really know what else to say about this, though I freely admit it far exceeds my own Hamm-as-Superman vision.

If it ends up being Jon Hamm, my excitement for this flick automatically diminishes. Too short, too old, to weak, not SUPERMAN.

  • Mister Smith says:

@Adam- I bet you're one of those assholes who wants BAD BAGGAGE like Brandon Routh back in the role...even though this is supposed to be a god damn REBOOT. Jon Ham is a much better actor than routh, he looks identical to the Alex Ross Superman AND you can't say the guy is weak. HELLOOOO they can send him a personal body trainer.
FUCK routh, he had his shot at fame as Superman. Time to move the fuck on and find someone different- JON HAMM FOR SUPERMAN 2012!!!!!!!!!

  • rob says:

Routh, Welling or Cavill. Hamm is pushing 40(it shows) and no hollywood make-up is gonna change that. Everyone knows that Superman ages differently. He could be 40 and look 25. Superman is 6'3 not 6'0. Superman is not suppose to look the same age as Perry White. Get it right people, forget about Hamm. He's a good actor but he's not Superman.

  • Alex says:

    Michael Ealy for Superman!

  • Jo Dunce says:

Wow, this makes a lot of sense dude.

First of all he looks totally stupid in custume. Second, not of you have paid attention, its going to be some type of origin story. Sorry he doesn't become Superman 40 years old. Stop with the Hamm as Superman, he doesn't fit the role.

  • Ug Lee says:

You Supernerds sure care about silly things.

  • Adam says:

LOL, Mister Smith. Where in my post did I ever mention anything about Brandon Routh? I fully expect new blood in the role, i'd just prefer that blood not to be dehydrated powder at the time. To say that Hamm looks exactly like Ross' Superman is ridiculous. And yes, I understand that people can put on muscle once cast in a role, but christ! why not go for someone who is already close, I mean why not go for Nick Cage if we want an older out of shape Superman (and no im not suggesting that we need Nick Cage as Superman, i'm being sarcastic) . I'm throwing down my geek card full board now but one thing you can't fix with a trainer is the fact that he's what? 5'11"? 6'? For that matter shoot! I'll play Superman! Christian Bale is listed anywhere from 6' to 6'2", Supes can't be shorter than Batman, and I don't want to see any cheesy Lord of the Rings camera tricks or platform shoes trying to convince us that Jon Hamm is a bigger dude than he really is. We can't have Supes looking up at everyone, he needs to be a physical presence, not someone trying to pretend he is. Jon Hamm may have his golden egg in the form of Mad Men, but just because HIS fans think he looks the part, it doesn't mean he can be the guy who makes Superman matter again to the general public.

  • Adam says:

    Amen sir!

  • Terry says:

Christopher Reeves himself has said ...Quote.... Tom Welling was born for the role of Superman...

  • Name says:

    Really, dude? Are you sure?

  • Gideon says:

If that's true then Chris Reeve didn't know what the fuck he was talking about.

  • Lucas says:

first off they could say that he looks 40 but he's really 100, cause you know he ages differently.
second. Seriously you folks are going to go that anal over height. Forget acting skill, forget that you can go to the gym and get the body, it's all about height. Specifically that the actor simply MUST be the exact height that was probably listed once in the hundreds of comics out there.
I suppose you are going to say that only actors that have naturally black hair and blue eyes can apply. no dye or contacts allowed.
    geesh

  • Travis says:

Man, I can't believe how retarded some people can be. It's a freakin photoshop and it's terrible. This isn't Hamm's body, it's not his pose, not his suite, not in character and not his style. The Lois and Clark suite? REALLY? You're going all in on what Jon Hamm would look like in the costume by THIS?! Wow, people are weird.
BTW: the age thing is the most over blown exaggeration I've EVER heard. Hamm is far from being too old. Superman in the comics is roughly 33 years of age. Routh was 24 years old, and Hammer is what? 22?! TOO YOUNG!

There, now the article should read Fan saves SuperHamm with photoshop.
