I was talking to my elderly neighbor lady and she said she didn't get why people were so into this movie. She said there was a reason these movies went out of style in the first place.

By writing a story where the hero is motivated by something substantial, the female lead actress doesn't perform a "YES!" mid-air fist-pump while wearing a flapper dress and cloche hat, and a mediocre dance number isn't expected to solve the story's conflict. (And by shutting the hell up about how cute my dog is.)
